Thomas Gibson Fine Art is delighted to present a solo exhibition dedicated to the works of Henri Matisse. Matisse was undoubtedly one of the greatest artist of the twentieth century whose often conservative use of line managed to capture the essence of his subjects. He stands with Picasso as one of the true founders of modern art and his expertise in utilising the media of painting, drawing and sculpture are arguably unparalleled. Primarily the exhibition is of works on paper but also includes two exquisite paintings and two equally attractive sculptures each demonstrating the virtuosity he possessed in portraying the human form.
None of this would have been possible without the help and support of Alessandra Carnielli and the Board of the Pierre and Tana Matisse Foundation; Wanda de Guébriant; Georges Matisse and a number of private collectors to whom we are most grateful.
